Work shown in public

Two group exhibitions where the photography was first shown — one on gallery walls, one hung in the open street.

Chaditek — portraits hung on a line against a painted mural wall, Kairouan

Chaditek — Street Exhibition

Public space · Kairouan · 2013

Portraits of ordinary people, captured on the city's streets — then curated, printed, and hung in its main thoroughfare, where passersby could find themselves on the wall and claim their own photograph as a keepsake.

In the aftermath of the 2011 revolution, many felt isolated and overlooked. The project set out to celebrate the unassuming, often-overlooked members of society — restoring a sense of hope and pride, one portrait at a time.

Stones and Memories

Group exhibition · Asad Ibn Al-Furat Cultural Complex · 2014

A collaboration between I-Photo Kairouan and the Asad Ibn Al-Furat Cultural Complex — a diverse collection of images depicting the old city's neglected houses and monuments.

The exhibition made the case for preserving this architectural heritage: educating the public on the significance of these structures and urging their protection for future generations. Mahdi contributed his own photographs capturing the beauty and uniqueness of the city's architecture.
